Name _______________________    Date due JANUARY 18

Geography Project

North America

You must color and label a map of North America.  Your map must include the following:

_______Heading – your name, teacher’s name and title of the map
_______Canada
_______United States, Alaska, and Hawaii
_______Mexico
_______Pacific Ocean
_______Atlantic Ocean
_______Gulf of Mexico
_______Greenland
_______compass rose
_______neatness of presentation

(10 points each)

_________For fun and extra credit you can make your map a relief map by using salt dough, play dough, or other similar substance.  You will probably want to enlarge the map and place it on a piece of cardboard to support the salt or play dough.  You could add rivers and mountains and additional features and landmarks to make it interesting and educational.

Basic Salt Dough Recipe

·         1 cup of fine salt
·         1 cup of flour
·         1/2 cup of warm water (may add more)
·         Food coloring
Instructions:
·         In a large bowl, combine the salt and the flour
·         Make a well in the salt/flour mixture and add the water
·         Knead until smooth and shape into a ball
·         When not in use, wrap in plastic or store in an airtight container
·         HINT: To get a softer dough you can add more flour. Adding more salt will lend a more granulous affect. You can also add a teaspoon or two of oil to make it more smooth.
